The annual HYPE Youth Summit provides HYPE youth participants across the state an opportunity to celebrate their successes, meet other HYPE teams, and share stories of how they were able to effectively advocate for change. Local community leaders are invited to attend this event. You can help HYPE Project teams travel to the Youth Summit. Consider sponsoring one or more youth for the Summit or if your business is willing, consider sponsoring one or more teams.
What is The HYPE Project?
The Healthy Young People Empowerment Project is youth engagement program developed by ESMMSC and the University of South Carolina to teach youth how to use their voice to impact healthy changes in their community. The HYPE Project curriculum uses a five-phased approach to teach youth the change process: Think, Learn, Act, Share and Evaluate. Teams have been successful at park and school playground improvements, creating trails, and faith-based healthy eating policies.
