Making the Healthy Choice the Easy Choice

SCDOT Needs Public Input on Public Transportation

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is updating the state’s Long Range Transportation Plan. Public Transportation is one part of the SC Multi-Modal Transportation Plan, along with roadways, bridges, bicycle/pedestrians, ports, railways, etc.

The Statewide Public Transportation Plan outlines federal transit funding for public transit and human services agencies across the state. Federal transit funding is vital in helping transit agencies operate their services for our residents. SCDOT wants to hear about your public transportation needs, so that we can work with our partners to meet existing and future needs.

SCDOT has created a survey that the public is invited to participate in, just follow the link, Survey (English) for the english version and for the Hispanic version of the survey, which was added at the request of the BCDCOG, you can click on Survey (Spanish). The survey was developed to evaluate the opinion of current public transportation services offered in South Carolina; this would include different modes of transit such as buses, trolleys, etc. Residents have the opportunity to identify existing public transportation needs and strategies for the future through this online survey. The survey will be available until Monday, March 4, 2013 and any public feedback gathered from the survey will become part of the updated Statewide Public Transportation Plan.

Residents can provide input through this survey and also receive information online at the project website located at
