Please join us for an educational forum on obesity prevention in South Carolina presented by the Eat Smart Move More Coalition of South Carolina in partnership with several statewide organizations. The summit is designed to provide an interactive and engaging look at how schools, communities and workplaces can overcome barriers to physical activity and nutrition using research, community engagement, policy and the media.
The South Carolina Obesity Prevention Summit is appropriate for professionals in public health, healthcare, education, nutrition, physical activity and the media. The registration fee for the summit is $59 per person. A student rate of $25 per day is also available. This fee includes continental breakfast, lunch and all program materials.
Sponsorship and exhibit opportunities are available. For more information, please contact Amy Splittgerber at 803-941-7050 or amy@eatsmartmovemoresc.org.
Event Highlights
- Featured Speaker – Dr. Adewale Troutman “It’s not enough to talk about individual behavior and feel that if we could just get people to exercise more and eat more fruits and vegetables everything would be all right. That is not the case. The bigger issues are the social conditions that drive the ultimate health status of populations”
- A look at best and promising practices to impact healthy eating and active living within communities, schools, worksites, healthcare, childcare and faith centers.
- Afternoon intensive sessions on grant writing, complete streets and increasing access to healthy foods
