Please join us for an educational forum on obesity prevention in South Carolina presented by the Eat Smart Move More Coalition of South Carolina in partnership with several statewide organizations. The summit is designed to provide an interactive and engaging look at how schools, communities and workplaces can overcome barriers to physical activity and nutrition using research, community engagement, policy and the media. The South Carolina Obesity Prevention Summit is appropriate for professionals in public health, healthcare, education, nutrition, physical activity and the media. The registration fee for the summit is $89 per person. If you are only able to attend Thursday, a one-day rate of $55 is available. A student rate of $25 per day is also available. This fee includes a reception on day one, breakfast, lunch and healthy snacks on days one and two, and all program materials.

Travel and hotel scholarships are available on a limited basis. Scholarship applications must be completed by January 25. To apply, please complete the scholarship application when registering for the summit. Click Here to Register

  • Examining the Economics of Obesity in the South, presented by Dr. Eric Finklestein, Director of Public Health Economics at RTI International
  • A look at best and promising practices to impact healthy eating and active living within communities, schools, worksites, healthcare, childcare and faith centers.
  • Sessions focused on health communication, working with the media, success stories, coalition building and the BluePrint on Nutrition and Activity.
  • Local community development with strategic planning and action plan creation utilizing the Eat Smart, Move More…SC Options for Action.
