
The SilverSneakers Fitness Program is a comprehensive older adult fitness program that addresses the needs of the Medicare (65+) population. The SC DHEC Diabetes 101 presentation as designed to create a uniformed diabetes awareness education tool to be used in the community. It is a 1.5 to 2 hour community presentation, designed to target the general adult population, which includes:
Information included in the presentation is based on the American Diabetes Association (ADA) clinical recommendations and the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) 7 Self- Care Professional Resource. Participants with Type 2 diabetes are encouraged to attend Diabetes Self Management Education (DSME) programs for information and assistance with self-management skills.
