McDonald’s Adds Menu Labeling in all U.S. Locations

Last Wednesday, in an attempt to “further inform and help customers and employees make nutrition-minded choices,” McDonald’s announced plans to list calorie information on all menus and drive-through boards nationwide. In addition to menu labeling, which has already started, the nation’s largest food service provider also announced plans to introduce a voluntary nutrition e-learning program to 750,000 U.S. employees later this fall and test new menu items for 2013 that include more recommend food groups like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. In 2011, McDonald’s rolled out changes to its signature Happy Meal offering that included apples slice and smaller size French fries, along with fat-free milk as a beverage offering.
