A similar effort was conducted in 2009, and those results have been incredibly influential in understanding the resources needed in our community.

Check out the great programs and events offered through the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission:

The Seven Oaks Park Produce Co-op helps participants to adopt a healthy lifestyle while supporting the local economy. You can receive a mix of fresh fruits and vegetables on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, featuring a variety of SC and locally grown produce (when available) includ…ing: apples, bananas, lettuce, onions, potatoes, and tomatoes. Cost is only $10 per share (enough for 2 adults). For more information or to join, contact Kim Bowers at (803) 772-3336 or kbowers@icrc.net.

Saluda Shoals will be hosting the Sleigh Bell Stroll (2 mile walk) on Monday, November 21 and the Sleigh Bell Trot (5K) on Tuesday, November 22. For more information on these races, visit the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission events page: http://www.icrc.net/events/sleigh-trot.aspx.

The afterschool programs are promoting physical activity through the use of pedometers. Each child is encouraged to wear a pedometer to track the number of steps that they take each day. These steps are converted to miles and accumulate to take trips across the state (i.e. Chapin to Myrtle Beach)

Additional services include:
- Fitness classes for seniors
- Senior day trips
- Walking Programs
- Bicycle Rentals
- And, so much more!
