Erika Kirby currently serves as Research Analyst/Grants Manager for the BlueCross BlueShield of SC Foundation. She previously served as the director of a statewide healthy eating and active living program at the state’s public health agency, where she coordinated the development of the state’s first obesity state strategic plan. Kirby received her BS from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio in Nutrition/Pre-med., and obtained a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. She was involved in the establishment and formation building of ESMMSC and served on the inaugural Board.

South Carolina Hospital Association
Jen Wright is the Working Well Manager at the SC Hospital Association. She assists hospitals, businesses, and their wellness teams in creating a healthy work environment by implementing healthy changes supportive of tobacco-free living, while providing healthy food and physical activity opportunities during the workday. She has a bachelor’s degree from Truman State University and a master degree in public health.

Liz Sharpe is a Tax Manager with more than five years of public accounting experience. She provides tax compliance and consulting services to public and private financial institutions, as well as individuals. Liz earned her BS in psychology from the University of South Carolina, and went on to obtain her Master of Accountancy. She is a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, is the Membership Meeting Committee Chair for the Junior League of Columbia and is a Member of United Way Women in Philanthropy.

Cheryl Johnson Benjamin has more than 30 years experience in health and human services, budgeting, contracting, procurement, auditing, accounting, grants management, program development and monitoring. As Senior Director of Healthy Services at United Way of the Midlands, she directs all activities that address health needs analysis, financial resources development, funds allocation and outcomes evaluation. She’s also responsible for grant and contract management of external grants and contracts.

Kevin Bonds, MHA, FACHE
SC Department of Health and Human Services
Kevin Bonds is the Hospital Administrator, Health Programs at the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) and focuses on the hospital industry and the Healthy Outcomes Plan. Kevin received his Master Healthcare Administration from Baylor University and holds a Bachalor’s degree in Psychology from the University of West Florida. He is a retired Army Medical Service Corps Lieutenant Colonel and has extensive administrative experience at several military hospitals around the country. Kevin is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Representative Neal Collins
SC House of Representatives
Neal Collins is a Laurens County attorney and a Republican member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 5. He sits on the Education and Public Works Committee, K-12 Subcommittee, and Transportation Subcommittee. Rep. Collins received his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Furman University. Rep. Collins is an Eagle Scout, NCAA Wrestling Official, member of the SC Bar Association, and serves on various civic and community groups.

Lisa Davis serves as Director of Health Services for the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control.  In this position, Lisa is responsible for the Bureaus of Maternal and Child Health, Community Health and Chronic Disease Prevention, Disease Control, Client Services, and Public Health Statistics and Information Services. She also serves as DHEC’s senior deputy to the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials.

Drew Griffin serves as City Manager for the City of Florence. He received a bachelors and masters degrees from Clemson University. He has been with the City of Florence for 25 years and initially began as the Planning Director. He then served for 5 years as General Services Director with his longest tenure as Director of Public Works & Utilities for 16 years before becoming City Manager in 2011. Drew and his wife, Celia, enjoy outdoor activities such as trail running, mountain biking, kayaking and hiking.

Beverly Hunter is the Program Manager for ABC Child Care, South Carolina’s Quality Improvement System to recognize quality performance for more than 2,000 child care programs statewide. She has over 30 years of experience working on behalf of young children at the Governor’s Office, SC Department of Health and Human Services, and SC Department of Social Services. Beverly was instrumental in SC DSS partnering with SC DHEC on ABC Grow Healthy, an initiative to set state standards for nutrition and physical activity for childcare centers enrolled in ABC Child Care. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Furman University and a M.S. degree in psychology from the University of Georgia.

Dr. Key is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina and the Director of School and Community-based Programs at the Boeing Center for Children’s Wellness and the Division Director of Adolescent Medicine. Dr. Key’s work focuses on improving the health and wellness of all children through individual health care as well as improved nutrition and physical activity in schools and communities. Dr. Key has been named as a top doctor by the “Best Doctors in America” since 1998, the “Guide to America’s Top Pediatricians” since 2008, and the 2012 US News & World Report.

Anna Lewin is the Strategic Initiatives Director for the South Carolina Community Loan Fund (CLF). She works closely with the Executive Director to design and enhance strategic initiatives to support and increase CLF’s loan activities. She also oversees CLF’s Healthy Food Financing Program, including technical assistance, advocacy, and evaluation activities. Anna is involved in many advocacy and food policy groups and serves on other organization boards. Anna graduated from the College of Charleston and received her master’s degree in social work from the University of South Carolina.

Angela Lorenz is a past president of the South Carolina Medical Association Alliance, whose mission is to educate, advocate and provide charitable support for the family of medicine and to partner with the SCMA to improve the health and quality of life for all South Carolinians. Lorenz is very involved in the Alliance on the local and state levels since 1994. She received an AS degree in nursing from Southern University and a BS degree in nursing and a Masters in Public Health from Loma Linda University.

Matt McGrievy is the Director of the Web Development & Communications (WDC) Core in the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina. The WDC provides a wide range of technical services, including web design, database development, and data capture solutions, to public health entities both internal and external to the university. Matt earned his BA in English from Miami University and his Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of Texas. He has previously worked managing IT systems at the University of North Carolina, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Alabama.

Laura Ringo is the Executive Director of Partners for Active Living , a non-profit working to transform Spartanburg County into a healthy, active, and vibrant community with an emphasis on all things walking & bicycling, childhood obesity prevention, and trail development. Under Ringo’s leadership, the organization facilitated SC’s first shared use agreements, launched the Southeast’s first bicycle-sharing program, led the effort for the city of Spartanburg to earn the designation of SC’s first bicycle-friendly community, and created a 30+ member childhood obesity prevention task force.
Megan A. Weis, DrPH, MPH, MCHES
South Carolina Institute of Medicine & Public Health
Dr. Megan Weis is Associate Director of Outreach & Program Development at the South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health, and provides leadership and management in the development of a diverse array of programs and organizational needs internal and external to IMPH, including strategic planning, evaluation, organization and coalition development and management of multi-stakeholder workgroups. Her experience in public health ranges from serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer, implementing and managing surveillance systems, evaluation and communications for state, academic and non-profit organizations. Dr. Weis is graduate of both Furman University and the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina.

Michael Wright is a graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law, where he was a member of the Interscholastic Moot Court Board and was awarded “Best Oral Advocate” in 2005. Following graduation, he served as Law Clerk for the Honorable Randolph M. Subryan of the New Jersey Superior Court in Paterson, NJ. Before moving to Charleston, Michael practiced civil litigation and real estate law in Hilton Head Island, SC. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar, American Bar Association and Charleston County Bar Association, and is licensed to practice before all state and federal courts in South Carolina, as well as the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Michael has outstanding negotiation and mediation skills, with a knowledge and interest in policy and advocacy.
