Making the Healthy Choice the Easy Choice

Eat Smart, Move More SC Releases Complete Streets Resources

Eat Smart Move More SC is pleased to present two resources as guides to South Carolina communities as they push for Complete Streets in their cities and towns.

The Complete Streets Toolbook is South Carolina’s guide to creating Complete Streets at the local level.  The guidebook promotes the numerous benefits Complete Streets can provide to South Carolina communities: from healthier individuals, to cleaner air quality, to economic redevelopment.  By identifying the various elements that make streets truly “comple” and describing the needed amenities to accommodate users of South Carolina’s roadways, the toolbook is a powerful resource to engineers, planners, elected officials and residents who desire safe and efficient facilities for bicycling and walking within their communities.

The Complete Streets Advocacy Manual is a handbook created to convince our local leaders – mayors, city council members, and county council members – of the benefits of Complete Streets for our communities.  It is written for both citizen and the nonprofit advocates who desire streets to accommodate all users – cyclists, pedestrians, transit users, the elderly, the disabled, and the automobile.
