Making the Case for Green Schoolyards: A Simple Intervention with Big Potential
July 19 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
What if a simple intervention could produce a host of benefits for students, teachers and neighborhoods? Research increasingly tells us that greening schoolyards can positively impact children’s healthy development and a community’s overall health and connectedness to nature. And yet, there are relatively few green schoolyards in the US, indicating a disconnect between what we know from research and the decisions we make about educational interventions. And in some ways, the research has not kept up with great advances on the ground.
Join members of C&NN’s Research and Green Schoolyards initiatives and special guest Bill Sullivan, head of the Landscape Architecture program at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, for our second installment of the “Making the Case” research webinar series. Participants will leave with valuable evidence-based information to make the case for greening schoolyards, as well as an understanding of what we still need to know.
